Kathy Beney, MS, RRT

Kathleen Beney holds a M.S. degree in Health Education from Syracuse University, a CAS in Educational Administration from SUNY Oswego, and undergraduate degrees in both Health Education and Respiratory Care. Currently, she is completing doctoral work leading to a Ph.D. in Teaching and Leadership from the School of Education at Syracuse University. She has more than 25 years of experience in teaching, research, and administration in public and higher education, and as a health care professional in the field of Respiratory Care. Beney teaches courses in educational psychology, teaching methods, curriculum planning, and research methodology. She holds a joint appointment in the Department of Cardiorespiratory Sciences, with responsibilities for teaching professional courses including neonatal physiology and community health, and clinical courses in adult and neonatal critical care. She has received numerous awards, and has presented original research and invited lectures at international, national, regional, and local conferences. Her medical research has been published in Critical Care Medicine, Chest, Respiratory Care, and The American Journal of Emergency Medicine. Current research interests are focused in the areas of constructivist teaching, problem based learning, and curriculum development.
