Dr Camargo will present original data on
COPD prevention from two ongoing, NIH-sponsored research projects. For primary
prevention, he will present dietary and behavioral risk factors for developing
COPD in the Nurses' Health Study, a prospective cohort study of >120,000
women. For secondary prevention, he will present original data on COPD
exacerbations from the Multicenter Airway Research Collaboration (MARC) to
explore the potential
role of the emergency department in the management of COPD.
